This 1956-1957 boxcar was painted in the red, white and blue colors of the famed "State of Maine" color scheme. This paint scheme was subsidized to the real railroads by Maine in order to promote their potato and paper industries. Gilbert equipped their cars with sheet metal frames and door guides, and trucks with sintered-iron side frames and knuckle couplers.
The condition of this box car is a C-7, excellent based on visual inspection according to TCA standards.
